Job summary

The Berkeley is seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician to support day-to-day upkeep across our retirement communities in HRM. This hands-on role covers general repairs, routine and preventative maintenance, and ensuring residents an safe, comfortable living environment.

The position requires practical problem-solving, hands-on work, and pride in maintaining high-quality living spaces. You will travel between four locations within HRM, participate in an on-call schedule, and assist with

Qualifications

Experience with general maintenance in residential settings.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform minor repairs independently and safely.

Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance and minor, non-certified repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting).
Respond to maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
Repair and maintain doors, locks, lighting, fixtures, flooring, and appliances.
Complete drywall repairs, painting, and touch-ups.
Assist with basic HVAC maintenance (filters, belts).
Support suite turnover with repairs and painting.
Conduct property inspections and report major issues to management.
Maintain safety and cleanliness of common areas and outdoor spaces.
Perform seasonal duties like snow removal and salting; light groundskeeping.
Maintain tools and work areas; assist with moves and waste removal.
Provide staff education to prevent repeated issues.
