Job summary

Source Energy Services in Peace River, AB is seeking an experienced Inventory/Parts Manager to own the parts and inventory program for heavy mobile equipment at the Peace River Mine.

You will establish stock levels, source vendors, negotiate pricing, and manage a CMMS-based tracking system while coordinating with mechanics and supervisors to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of mobile equipment maintenance and utilization experience or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in mobile equipment operations.
• Supervisor experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Parts & Inventory Management

• Own and manage the parts and supplies inventory program for all heavy mobile equipment for Peace River Mine.
• Establish and maintain minimum stock levels for critical spare parts, consumables, and maintenance supplies to prevent equipment downtime.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate pricing with parts suppliers; obtain competitive quotes and manage vendor relationships to optimize cost and availability.
• Implement and maintain an organized parts tracking system within the CMMS (Limble), ensuring accurate inventory counts, part numbers, locations, and reorder points.
• Coordinate parts receiving, storage, and issuance to mechanics and technicians in a controlled and documented manner.
• Conduct regular physical inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies with system records.
• Work with the mining leadership team to issue purchase orders for parts, supplies, and repair services; review all vendor invoices for accuracy prior to approval.
• Identify and phase out obsolete parts inventory; manage disposal or return processes accordingly.
• Obtain quotes and assist the mine management team in negotiating contracts for equipment purchases, short-term rentals, long-term leases, and loaner machines as required.
• Conduct regular performance review meetings with critical equipment suppliers and service vendors.
• Review all vendor repair invoices for accuracy and completeness before processing.
• Assist in budget planning for equipment purchases, rentals, sales, maintenance, and parts inventory.
• Provide management with cost analysis and data to support equipment management strategy decisions.
• Track and report on parts and repair expenditures against budget; identify cost-saving opportunities.

Safety & Compliance

• Champion and enforce all SES safety practices, policies, and industry regulations across all equipment operations.
• Support safety training programs for the proper operation and handling of mobile equipment.
• Ensure all equipment meets applicable regulatory and compliance standards at all times.

Leadership & Coordination

• Coordinate daily labor and task assignments for mechanics, technicians, and applicable SES personnel.
• Work closely with production supervisors and shift leads to ensure all areas are equipped with properly functioning mobile equipment.
• Perform additional duties as needed and assigned.

Who We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of experience in mobile equipment maintenance and utilization, or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to mobile equipment operations.
• Supervisor experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
