Job summary

Overstory in Canada is seeking an ML Engineering Manager to lead multiple cross‑functional teams of ML engineers and data scientists. You will drive technical direction, grow talent, and balance short- and long‑term ML goals while supporting climate-focused product capabilities.

You will partner with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to evolve data and ML practices, foster an inclusive culture, and ensure delivery excellence across satellite imagery and geospatial projects.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building ML/data-driven systems; 3+ years leading ML/data teams.
• Strong climate-tech passion and startup scale-up experience.
• Proven ability to influence product direction and business impact.

Responsibilities

• Enable cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality ML capabilities.
• Support satellite imagery and geospatial data work, iterating on solutions.
• Grow teams by hiring strong Data/ML talent.
• Foster inclusive culture and support team members.
• Provide regular coaching and feedback 1:1.
• Partner with Product Managers to balance short- and long-term goals.
• Ensure technical approaches meet future product/modelling needs.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders on strategy.
• Evolve Data/ML practices to improve collaboration and delivery.
