Job summary

SMS Equipment Inc. in Fort McMurray seeks a Supervisor, Mining Services to lead the safe, efficient operation of a mining services work area. The role oversees tradespeople, apprentices, and labourers who maintain, repair, and rebuild heavy mining equipment while supporting workforce planning, safety, quality, and customer service.

Work location is Fort McMurray, AB, on-site with a 14 days on / 14 days off schedule. Company housing is available.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a qualified tradesperson
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience coordinating trades in mining equipment maintenance
• Knowledge of heavy mining equipment maintenance and repair

Responsibilities

• Lead daily maintenance, repair, and rebuild activities safely and to quality standards
• Supervise tradespeople, apprentices, and labourers, assigning work and monitoring productivity
• Ensure training, certifications, tools, and resources are available for safe work
• Promote safety culture through inspections, hazard identification, toolbox talks, and investigations
• Monitor progress, workforce utilization, and performance to meet commitments
• Provide coaching, technical guidance, and employee development
• Maintain timecards, inspection records, warranty requirements, and safety docs
• Communicate status to employees, customers, and leadership; support service concerns
• Assist with major maintenance projects and equipment overhauls
