Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer, Operational Growth, to support Ontario operations during construction and execution phases. You will review site execution plans, translate long-term designs into practical mine plans, and provide technical mining expertise across project teams.

The role requires 5–10 years in mining with strong planning experience, Deswik or Datamine proficiency, and willingness to travel to Ontario sites.

Qualifications

• Mining Engineering Degree or equivalent related education.
• 5–10 years of relevant mining experience, including at least 5 years of mine planning.
• Strong understanding of underground and/or open pit mining operations.
• Experience using mine planning software such as Deswik, Datamine, or other industry-standard applications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel regularly to Ontario operations and project sites.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

You will report to the Manager, Mining Operational Readiness and will play a technical role in supporting the operation team with mine plans during the construction and execution phase. Review the sites execution plans evaluate the confidence level and identify opportunities to mitigate risks or improve. This role also with be additional resources for the Ontario operations in specific assignments.You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Develop, review, and update short- and medium-term mine plans during project construction and execution phases, including mine development and pre-stripping activities;
• Collaborate closely with Study and Construction Teams to evaluate technical assumptions, operational constraints, and project readiness;
• Assess site execution plans and evaluate confidence levels, identifying risks, opportunities, and improvement initiatives to support operational success;
• Translate long-term mine designs into practical operational mine plans and sequencing strategies;
• Provide technical support and mining expertise for Ontario regional projects and operational initiatives;
• Participate in project reviews and provide recommendations to improve mine planning processes, production schedules, and execution strategies;
• Work collaboratively with General Managers, Technical Services Managers, Study Teams, and site leadership to ensure alignment between project plans and operational requirements;
• Support the evaluation and implementation of innovative mining practices, technologies, and planning solutions.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Mining Engineering Degree, Technical Diploma, Trade Certificate, or equivalent related education;
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant mining experience, including at least 5 years of mine planning experience;
• Strong understanding of underground and/or open pit mining operations;
• Experience using mine planning software such as Deswik, Datamine, or other industry-standard applications;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify operational risks and opportunities;
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project and operational environment;
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement;
• Willingness to travel regularly to Ontario operations and project sites.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.

Occasional visits to site may also be required.

Workplace: A combination of remote work and on-site work at one of our offices.
