Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking an Engineer, Open Pit Strategic Planning to join the Meadowbank Complex in Canada. You will report to the Supervisor, Mine Planning and contribute to strategic planning exercises and cost-effective mine design.

The role requires 4+ years of underground and open pit planning, a P.Eng designation or eligibility, familiarity with Deswik, and strong teamwork and MS Office skills. Accommodations and flights may be provided for site travel.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of underground and open pit mine planning experience.
• Canadian Professional Engineer designation and/or eligible for NAPEG license.
• Experience with Deswik is an asset.
• Experience working in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Lead development of strategic life-of-m mine planning exercises and budgets.
• Collaborate with Tactical Planning on MMA presentations.
• Support with stockpile/waste balances for planning.
• Assist with cut-off grade calculations and mineral resource estimations.
• Support mine design activities across operations where needed.
• Lead special projects for Engineering or Mine Departments.
• Promote Health & Safety in departmental meetings.
• Provide Tactical Planning coverage as required.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Planning, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

• Lead the development of Scenario, Budget, and Enhanced life of mine planning exercises to support strategic objectives;
• Collaborate with Tactical Planning team in the preparation and presentation of Monthly Mining Analysis (MMA);
• Stockpile or Waste balances to support mine planning deliverables;
• Support with Cut-off grade calculation and mineral reserve / mineral resource estimation;
• Support mine design activities across operational areas, with scope determined by project and departmental needs;
• Special projects according to the needs of the Engineering or Mine Departments;
• Promote Health and Safety by participating in the monthly Departmental H&S meeting when at site;
• Tactical Planning coverage as needed by the department.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• 4+ years of Underground and Open Pit mine planning experience;
• Canadian Professional Engineer designation and/or eligible for NAPEG license;
• Experience working with Deswik is an asset;
• Experience working in a multicultural environment;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
• Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule:5 days of work, followed by2 days for rest with occasional travel to site required;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
