Job summary

Nutrien is hiring a Project Field Coordinator for the Vanscoy Mine to oversee field construction activities for capital projects. You will coordinate with Project Managers to ensure safety, scope, schedule, budget and quality are met, leveraging SAP and MS Office 365 in daily tasks.

The role requires 5+ years in mining/industrial settings, strong contractor management, and solid planning and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Project, engineering, maintenance or operations experience in mining, heavy industry or another operating facility.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating and overseeing contractors, vendors or construction service providers in an operating environment.
• Experience leading field execution of capital or sustaining projects, including scope, schedule, cost, quality and contractor performance control.
• Engineer/Technologist with minimum of 5 years experience, or Journeyman (Operator/Trade) certificate with 5-10 years industrial experience would be preferred
• Working knowledge of construction work packages, commissioning and project close-out practices
• Ability to interpret and communicate technical drawings, specifications and complex project requirements
• Strong planning, organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing field conditions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to align frontline employees, supervisors, technical resources, leaders and external service providers
• Ability to build collaborative working relationships while maintaining clear accountability for safety, performance, and project commitments
• Experience with SAP is considered an asset
• Advanced knowledge of soft-rock mining and underground project execution is considered an asset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365

Responsibilities

• Project development and planning: Support and help maintain project execution plans that clearly define deliverables, milestones, responsibilities, required resources and interfaces with operating departments
• Manage/coordinate construction work packages for field execution with input from PMs, stakeholders, engineering resources and end users
• Contractor and vendor oversight: Serve as the primary Nutrien representative accountable for execution on assigned projects; develop contracting and execution strategies; coordinate onboarding, mobilization, and site integration; ensure policies and safety practices are followed; support planning meetings and execution reviews; monitor performance; address issues; validate progress for reporting and payments
• Field execution and project control: Maintain field presence; coordinate work sequencing, site interfaces, and changes; align activities with mine operations and planning; resolve field issues; verify drawings and specs; investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
• Project delivery and stakeholder coordination: Provide regular reporting; build relationships with operations, mine construction, maintenance, engineering, supply chain and contractors; facilitate decision-making; support commissioning, turnover and close-out with proper documentation and training
