Job summary

AltaSteel in Edmonton is seeking motivated millwrights to join our maintenance team on a full-time, permanent basis. This position supports a major steel manufacturing operation with competitive pay, strong benefits, and ongoing development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Millwright Certification (Alberta) and/or Red Seal Certification.
• Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, mining, or heavy equipment environment is an asset.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to safety and safe work practices.
• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on pumps, conveyors, motors, seals, and rotating equipment.
• Troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Diagnosing equipment issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Reading and interpreting drawings and plans to complete repairs safely.
• Assembling, fitting, aligning, and adjusting machinery and equipment.
• Responding to breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
• Working collaboratively with operations, engineers, electricians, welders, and other trades.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records within the CMMS system.
• Supporting a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.

• Troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems


• Diagnosing equipment issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives

• 4th Year Apprentices: 90% of the applicable apprenticeship rate
