Job summary

West Fraser's Manning division in Alberta is recruiting for a Maintenance Superintendent. Reporting to the Production Superintendent, you will oversee the saw filing, sawmill, planner, mobile shop and warehouse teams, driving reliability and safety across the maintenance function.

You should bring a strong maintenance background with proven supervisory leadership, budgeting experience and a commitment to developing staff, reducing costs and improving equipment availability at the Manning mill.

Qualifications

• Mechanical tradesman with 10 years of maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the Maintenance department by being a role model in safety, relationships, quality and training.
• Develop and monitor systems for personnel development, cost control and equipment availability.
• Work with Operations to improve reliability and maximize equipment availability at the lowest cost to the mill.

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our Manning division in Alberta is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Superintendent.

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, this position is an advanced level position in the maintenance department. In addition, you will also be responsible for overseeing the saw filing, sawmill, planner, mobile shop and warehouse teams. This position requires a strong background in maintenance and proven strong supervisory and leadership skills.

You’ll Do

• Strong commitment to safety
• Provide leadership for the Maintenance department by being a role model in all areas including safety, working relationships, quality and training
• Utilize established performance management system to develop direct reports in the best interest of West Fraser (costs, overtime, absenteeism, employee performance)
• Work with Operations to improve reliability and maximize equipment availability at the lowest cost to the mill through involvement and understanding of the business
• Provide maintenance supervisors & planners with the tools and manpower to keep their area’s equipment reliable
• Develop, implement, monitor and report on systems for: personnel development, system design, cost control and equipment availability

You have

• Mechanical tradesman with 10 years of maintenance experience
• Experience in Forestry, preferred
• Financial planning & budgeting experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven leadership, vision, dedication & ability to mentor a team
• Must possess knowledge of maintenance management system
