  • 2–5 years industrial electrical and mechanical experience, preferably in food industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills required.
  • Good communication skills and flexibility for weekend/holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, pneumatic, hydraulic and PLC systems.
  • Inspect equipment, identify issues and replace defective parts.
  • Operate machine tools to fabricate parts during maintenance and overhaul.
  • Ensure work complies with SOPs, safety and food safety policies.

Shift Details
  • Bi-Weekly Rotations, 12 Hour Continental Shift
  • Must be able to work every other weekend
Pay Rate

$46.90/hr + shift premium (extra $2.00/hr night shift premium)

As a member of the maintenance team, you will be working in our Kitchener, ON cookie plant that produces millions of cookies daily! This state-of-the-art facility operates with 5 production lines and possesses a strong team-oriented culture.

A Millwright is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and installing, inspecting, replacing, and repairing machinery and equipment components. This role provides technical support to production teams to maximize equipment reliability, maintain production uptime, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of production equipment and facility systems.

Working collaboratively with other Maintenance team members, you will support departmental objectives by ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements. The Millwright also provides support across the Maintenance department as needed to ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Job Duties
  • Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes and mill machines to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
  • Troubleshooting/repairs/installations of processing equipment with a working knowledge of electrical to allow efficient repair/replacement results
  • Extensive mechanical knowledge including power transmission, pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability, participating in continuous improvement projects and completing work orders according to PM schedules
  • Comply with all applicable legislative and bakery food safety, health and safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Service, clean and perform preventative maintenance and overhaul on all production and bakery equipment
  • Continually improve equipment function via design improvements
  • Ensure that work area is clean of debris and hazards at all times and check work area for such hazards upon arrival and when departing each area of work
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required
Must have Industrial Millwright License (433A)
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude
  • Proven track record working with mechanics, machine shop practices (lathe & milling machines), welding (ARC, TIG, MIG), and pneumatic & hydraulic fields is required.
  • Instrumentation ticket a strong asset
  • 2-5 years' industrial, electrical and mechanical experience, preferably in the food industry
  • Problem solving skills and good communication skills are required
  • Flexibility to 12-hour rotational shifts as well as on weekends and holidays
