Role Overview

The Millwright is responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing equipment and building systems operate at peak efficiency. They troubleshoot and repair equipment to keep production running safely and producing quality products at target speed. Using their knowledge and experience, they provide insights to improve equipment performance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Respond quickly to repair equipment and components to minimize downtime
  2. Work closely with production supervision, process engineering, and management to determine priorities and courses of action to improve uptime, product quality, and employee safety
  3. Plan and perform maintenance activities for shutdowns
  4. Lead the improvement of our preventative maintenance system
  5. Assist in the implementation of new PM software and use it to control and record maintenance activities
  6. Perform PM activities on a timely basis and keep records of the activity and components used
  7. Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts
  8. Keep all tools and machine shop equipment in workable condition
  9. Work in a manner that maintains the safety of themselves and others
  10. Maintain safety guards on equipment
  11. Work extra hours as required to keep production equipment running
  12. Respond to calls after hours as required to support production
  13. Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment issues
  • Ability to plan, organize, multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA, machine safeguarding, and safety procedures
  • Strong listening and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Understanding of PLCs and automated equipment
  • Experience with personal computers, proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • High initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, accountability, reliability, and strong leadership qualities
  • The ability to remain calm in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong work ethic
Education and Experience
  • Licensed industrial millwright
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of motors, pumps, valves, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, automated manufacturing equipment
  • Certification as an industrial electrician is an asset
  • Ability to read CAD drawings is an asset
  • Working knowledge of robot troubleshooting (ABB) is an asset
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
Physical Demands

The physical demands include talking, listening, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working beyond 40 hours/week if necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment
