Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods Inc in Mississauga is seeking a skilled Millwright for a fast-paced production environment. The role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining complex production equipment, with a focus on preventative maintenance and safety compliance. Overtime is available, and experience with GMP/HACCP/WHMIS is valued.

Strong teamwork and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential, along with a valid Ontario Millwright license and a full toolset.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid Ontario Millwright license.
  • Experience in manufacturing is an asset.
  • Experience in welding and plumbing is an asset.
  • Experience operating powered material handling equipment (walkies, forklifts) is an asset.
  • Must have a full complement of personal/professional hand tools.
  • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team or alone.
  • Safety conscious and able to work in a GMP/HACCP/WHMIS environment.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance equipment performance, recommending improvements and implementing.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex production equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Read and follow drawings, written or verbal instructions, and sketches.
  • Troubleshoot and identify mechanical/electrical problems.
  • Operate production equipment and monitor performance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in a 24-hour operation.
  • Use computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Ensure all operations comply with GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS and health & safety requirements.

The Opportunity

Snapshot Of a Day-in-the-Life


  • Enhance equipment performance, recommending improvements and implementing.

  • Be able to install, troubleshoot, and repair complex production equipment with minimum supervision

  • Works from drawings, written or verbal instructions and sketches

  • Be able to troubleshoot and identify mechanical/electrical problems

  • Operate production equipment and check performance as required

  • Be strong on PM (preventative maintenance) procedures in a 24 hour/day operation

  • Have proficient knowledge in use of computerized maintenance management system.

  • Ensure all job-related operations are in compliance with GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS and health & safety requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned


You must be legally eligible to work and currently residing in Canada.
