Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods is seeking a Maintenance Planner to provide technical planning, scheduling and cost control assistance across maintenance and production teams. You will develop final work sequences, estimate costs and allocate resources while updating records in our computerized maintenance management system.

The role emphasizes planning spare parts and materials, managing work orders, supervising contractors, and ensuring safe, efficient operations within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma plus 2 years of related study; technical diploma or trade training required.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; SAP knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop final work sequences, cost estimates and resource allocations.
  • Update and maintain records in the maintenance management system.
  • Plan spare parts, materials, and equipment to improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Direct outside contractors and ensure satisfactory completion of work.
  • Manage work order backlog and scheduling.
  • Ensure availability of critical spare parts.

Job description

The Opportunity:

The incumbent is responsible and provides technical planning, scheduling and cost control assistance to maintenance, production and various groups. Includes developing final logical work sequences, cost estimates and resource allocations, update and maintain records in computerized maintenance management system.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
  • Improves maintenance effectiveness by eliminating delays and obstacles through proper planning of spare parts, materials and equipment
  • Promotes a safe working environment and safe work practices
  • Plans work for quality and efficiency and contributes to the effective utilization of the maintenance budget
  • Visits work site to evaluate job and equipment problems and plan routine and shut down maintenance work orders
  • Determines material requirements and parts locations
  • Develops and maintains a file of best practices (safe work procedures, work instructions, etc)
  • Manages and continuously reviews the work order backlog, ensuring work requests are processed appropriately
  • Participates in the scheduling of work orders
  • Ensures the availability of adequate critical spare parts and acts as a resource for locating spare parts
  • Identifies and communicates suspected repeat equipment problems to maintenance leadership
  • Directs outside contractors and conducts follow-up to ensure satisfactory completion of required work
What You’ll Bring:
  • High School Diploma plus 2 years of study in a related field, technical school diploma at a community college, university or equivalent, plus a trade, apprenticeship or operating training
  • Highly organized individual capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office computer skills. Individuals with SAP knowledge are preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
