Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. at the Heritage plant is seeking an Employee Services Coordinator on a 12-month contract to support hourly employees, uphold company policies, and manage employee relations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires 1–2 years HR/Health & Safety experience, post-secondary education in HR or Health & Safety, and strong communication. You’ll handle SAP/Kronos, onboarding, benefits, and HR inquiries with accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or Health & Safety is an asset.
  • 1–2 years HR/Health & Safety related experience.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Capability to take initiative and problem solve.
  • Strong administrative skills with careful attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • First point of contact for HR inquiries.
  • Update SAP and Kronos entries; ensure payroll reports are processed.
  • Coordinate internal job postings for hourly group and recruitment for external applicants.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation with QA and OH&S coordination.
  • Prepare WIN-PAK time cards and enter data in SAP and Kronos timely.
  • Respond to employee inquiries on benefits, vacations, LOAs, wage increases and HR processes.
  • Manage benefits and pension plans via third party provider for hourly group.
  • Maintain employee files.
  • Assist with HR policy inquiries and HR-related procedures.
  • Assist with HR metrics and SAP reporting.
  • Support development/update of JSAs.
  • Support actions from JHSC meetings.
  • Deliver Health & Safety training such as New Hire Orientations, WHMIS.
  • Support Health & Safety program compliance.

Job description

The Opportunity:

The Employee Services Coordinator- 12 month contract is a member of the HR Team at the Heritage plant supporting hourly employees and upholding company policies and programs in a fast-paced manufacturing facility. The incumbent is responsible for establishing credibility with employees by addressing and responding to inquiries and managing employee relations in a unionized environment. He/she must ensure timelines are met with a high level of accuracy while producing high quality work.


Deadline: August 11.


Reason for vacancy: Existing Headcount


Base Salary: $47,000 - $69,000 CAD base pay annually. The above base salary reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours.


Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:


  • First point of contact for all HR inquires

  • Update employee information in SAP including job, wage, address, direct deposit; ensure Kronos (time and attendance system) is updated and payroll reports are processed

  • Coordination of internal job postings for the Hourly group along with recruitment/selection for external applicants

  • Orientation (preparation of new hire packages, facilitating/collaborating with QA and OH&S for orientation booking)

  • New hire setup (timely and accurate preparation of WIN-PAK time cards, entering documented in SAP and Kronos in a timely manner)

  • Responds to employee inquires, in areas of benefits, vacations, LOAs, wage increases and other HR processes

  • Manage employee benefits and pension plans through third party provider including enrollments, changes and terminations for the Hourly group

  • Maintenance of employee files

  • Assist with general employee requests regarding HR related policy and procedures

  • Assist with HR metrics and SAP report creation

  • Assist in the development/updating of all JSAs

  • Support and following up on actions identified at JHSC meetings

  • Continue to improve upon and deliver existing occupational Health & Safety training to employees such as but not limited to New Hire Safety Orientations, WHMIS etc.

  • Support the Health and Safety program to ensure worker safety and compliance with relevant legislation and reduce service's liability


What You’ll Bring:


  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Health and Safety an asset

  • 1-2 years Human Resources/Health & safety related experience

  • Experience working in a unionized environment an asset

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication (oral, written, listening) skills

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy and urgency

  • Strong Organization & Analytical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Capability to take initiative and problem solve

  • Strong administrative skills with careful attention to detail
