Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods in Mississauga is seeking a licensed Electrician to support a 24/7 production environment. You will install, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment with minimum supervision, and work from drawings and instructions.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, programming and repairing PLCs and HMIs, and ensuring GMP, HACCP, WHMIS and safety standards. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Electrician license.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Must have a full compliment of personal/professional hand tools.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented with ability to work independently.
  • Safety conscious and able to follow safety procedures.
  • Must be able to lift heavy items as required.
  • Good communication and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex production equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Enhance equipment performance by recommending improvements and implementing them.
  • Work from drawings, written or verbal instructions and sketches.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical problems and participate in preventative maintenance.
  • Program and repair industrial equipment and automation including PLCs, HMIs and related devices.
  • Operate production equipment and monitor performance as required.
  • Follow PM procedures in a 24-hour operation and maintain GMP/HACCP/WHMIS compliance.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management system effectively.
  • Contribute to a safe workplace and teamwork within the plant.

Hourly Rate: $39.89

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
  • Be able to install, troubleshoot, and repair complex production equipment with minimum supervision
  • Enhance equipment performance, recommending improvements and implementing.
  • Works from drawings, written or verbal instructions and sketches
  • Be able to troubleshoot and identify mechanical/electrical problems
  • Participate in preventative maintenance
  • Program and repair industrial equipment and automation including PLC’s, HMI and other related devices
  • Operate production equipment and check performance as required
  • Be strong on PM (preventative maintenance) procedures in a 24 hour/day operation
  • Have proficient knowledge in use of computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ensure all job-related operations are in compliance with GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS and health & safety requirements.
