Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods is seeking a skilled Millwright to maintain and service equipment in our facility, ensuring safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees. You will troubleshoot, repair, install, and perform scheduled work orders, with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.

The role requires 3-5 years of experience, a Red Seal Millwright license, own tools, and the ability to read schematics. Willingness to work weekends and lift up to 50 lbs is expected.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid Millwright's license (Red Seal) and minor electrical repair knowledge, preferably 3-5 years’ experience.
  • Must have own hand tools
  • Knowledge of plant and equipment operations
  • Ability to organize and plan daily tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a team based environment
  • Good mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Available for weekend overtime as production demands require.

  • Welding of equipment or part repair
  • Understand and adhere to all plant Food/Health and Safety Polices
  • Some lifting will be required up to 50 lbs.

The Opportunity:

The individual will be responsible for maintaining and servicing equipment used in the facility for the daily production of our products. Furthermore, they will ensure safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees.

Working Conditions
  • 12 hour continental shifts in a fast-paced, cold and wet environment; strong smells like cleaning and caustic solutions, blood products and raw meat.
  • Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, ability to use senses to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
  • Some lifting will be required up to 50 lbs.
