Job summary

IKO Industries Ltd. is seeking a Millwright to maintain production and quality by ensuring the reliable operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and document activities to keep lines running efficiently. Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining production equipment, reading mechanical drawings, and coordinating with teams to close work orders.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Ontario Millwright Mechanic License.
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings is required.
  • Extensive preventive maintenance experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventive maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, motors, conveyors, and related production equipment.
  • Identify faults by observing operation, listening for abnormal sounds, and using precision instruments.
  • Remove and replace defective parts using hoists, cranes, and hand tools; inspect parts for wear.
  • Measure dimensional changes with calipers, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Adjust components and instrumentation using levels and straightedges.
  • Fabricate repair parts with machine shop equipment.
  • Document repairs and maintenance in Maximo; request parts as needed.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment in compliance with procedures and regulations.

Job Description

Role: Millwright. Job Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role will maintain production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Compensation

Starting rate is $44.21/Hour.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on pump, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other production machineries.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
  • Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
  • Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with planning and closing the loop on work orders in Maximo Record parts and materials used, and order or create requisition for new parts and materials as necessary.
  • Record repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Must have a valid Ontario Millwright Mechanic License
  • Exposure to mechanical devices, pneumatic controls, and welding/cutting
  • Prefer 5-8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to read mechanical drawings
  • Must be able to work shifts as well as some extended hours and weekends
  • Qualified applicants will have good interpersonal and problem-solving skills and be able to work with other trades and operators
