Job summary

IKO Industries Ltd. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, monitor, adjust, and repair manufacturing equipment at the Ashcroft facility.

You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and collaborate within IAMAW Lodge 692, following the collective agreements. The role requires a Red Seal and at least five years of manufacturing maintenance experience, including hands-on machine shop work and CMMS usage.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Ticket required or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum five years maintenance experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of LOTO and safety practices.
  • Ability to read detailed repair manuals and schematics.
  • Experience with computer-based maintenance software and shop tools.
  • Proven troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain smooth operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot specific industrial equipment with precision instruments.
  • Dismantle/reassemble equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Create hand sketches and understand assembly drawings and service costing.
  • Inspect wear life of power transmission components and parts.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop tools.
  • Utilize CMMS (Maximo or similar) for maintenance records.
  • Uphold safety and cleanliness per company procedures.

Job Description

The primary function of this role is to troubleshoot, monitor, adjust, and repair manufacturing equipment and machinery throughout the IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. at the Ashcroft production facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role will maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. This position is part of the IAMAW, Lodge 692 (Union), and as such the successful candidate will be required to join and be subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. at Ashcroft is a production facility that processes, color, and ship granules used for the roofing shingle.

Compensation

Starting Rate: $45.22 an hour

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintaining smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Troubleshooting specific industrial equipment by using precise measuring and testing instruments
  • Dismantling and reassembling of equipment using hand and power tools
  • Creating hand sketches of assemblies while understanding dimensional drawings and service costing
  • Inspecting and assessing wear and remaining useful life of various power transmission components
  • Fabricating repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Utilizing Maximo or similar computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with Company’s procedures, rules, and regulations
Qualifications
  • Must have the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Ticket
  • Proven experience working in and maintaining a safe work environment with intimate knowledge of LOTO procedures or other relevant safety practices
  • Minimum of five years maintenance experience in manufacturing environment
  • Millwright skills, welding and machining experience preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge of appropriate use of hand tools and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to read and understand detailed repair & instruction manuals
  • Must be able to work with computer-based maintenance software
  • Possess superior analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Must supply own hand tools appropriate to the equipment and environment
