Suncor Energy Inc. is hiring a Millwright Journeyperson for the Extraction Maintenance Execution team at our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

The role focuses on installing, servicing, and repairing plant equipment safely and efficiently in collaboration with a dynamic team. The position requires five years of millwright experience in heavy industry and a valid Alberta Journeyperson or Interprovincial Red Seal certificate, plus a strong safety mindset and OH&S/WMSIS knowledge.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as a millwright in a heavy industrial environment.
• Strong safety mindset with knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S regulations.
• Valid Alberta Journeyperson Millwright Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal certificate.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Participate in post-event analysis and root cause discussions to develop solutions.
• Maintain equipment histories and complete overhaul check sheets.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to support safe, reliable plant operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Five years of experience working as a millwright in a heavy industrial environment
• A valid Alberta Journeyperson Millwright Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright Certificate
• A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• A strong safety mindset with proven safe work practices and knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations
• A deep understanding and demonstration of safe work practices
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
• Implement preventative and predictive programs/assignments for mechanical systems
• Participate in post event analysis and root cause discussions and take part in developing solutions
• Commit to adhering to guidelines and maintaining technical and preventative records
• Review and apply a continuous improvement mindset to safe work practices, procedures, and standards
• Maintain equipment histories and complete equipment overhaul check sheets
• Work collaboratively in a flexible team environment, communicating effectively and partnering with maintenance and operations teams to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations

Location and other Key Details

• You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
• The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
• This position is safety sensitive
• You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
• If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
