Job summary

Suncor in Fort McMurray, Alberta seeks a skilled Millwright to install, maintain and repair stationary industrial machinery in a heavy industrial setting. A valid Alberta Journeyperson Millwright Certificate is required, along with a strong safety mindset and WHMIS/OH&S knowledge.

The role runs on a six-on/six-off, 12-hour shift rotation at our Baseplant. You will work with maintenance and operations to implement preventive maintenance, document equipment histories, and support safe, reliable

Minimum Requirements:

• Five years of experience working as a millwright in a heavy industrial environment
• A valid Alberta Journeyperson Millwright Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright Certificate
• A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• A strong safety mindset with proven safe work practices and knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations
• A deep understanding and demonstration of safe work practices
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities:

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
• Implement preventative and predictive programs/assignments for mechanical systems
• Participate in post event analysis and root cause discussions and take part in developing solutions
• Commit to adhering to guidelines and maintaining technical and preventative records
• Review and apply a continuous improvement mindset to safe work practices, procedures, and standards
• Maintain equipment histories and complete equipment overhaul check sheets
• Work collaboratively in a flexible team environment, communicating effectively and partnering with maintenance and operations teams to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations

Location and other Key Details:

• You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
• The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
• This position is safety sensitive
• You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
• If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
