Job summary

Suncor Energy Inc. is seeking a skilled Millwright Journeyperson for our Extraction Maintenance Execution team at the Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

You will install, service, and repair plant equipment, following safe work practices and collaborating with a dynamic team to support reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as a millwright in a heavy industrial environment.
• WHMIS and OH&S knowledge with safe work practices.
• Alberta Journeyperson/Red Seal certification or equivalent.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair stationary industrial machinery and equipment.
• Implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and develop corrective actions.
• Maintain equipment histories and overhaul check sheets.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations for safe, reliable plant operations.

Education

Alberta Journeyperson Millwright Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright Certificate

High School Diploma or GED

Five years of millwright experience in heavy industrial environments

WHMIS knowledge and OH&S regulations

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

We are looking for a skilled Millwright Journeyperson to join our Extraction Maintenance Execution team at our Baseplant location. You will play a critical role in the support of installing, servicing, and repairing plant equipment safely and efficiently while collaborating with a dynamic team.

Minimum Requirements:

• Five years of experience working as a millwright in a heavy industrial environment
• A valid Alberta Journeyperson Millwright Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright Certificate
• A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• A strong safety mindset with proven safe work practices and knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations
• A deep understanding and demonstration of safe work practices
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities:

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
• Implement preventative and predictive programs/assignments for mechanical systems
• Participate in post event analysis and root cause discussions and take part in developing solutions
• Commit to adhering to guidelines and maintaining technical and preventative records
• Review and apply a continuous improvement mindset to safe work practices, procedures, and standards
• Maintain equipment histories and complete equipment overhaul check sheets
• Work collaboratively in a flexible team environment, communicating effectively and partnering with maintenance and operations teams to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations

Location and other Key Details:

You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta

The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

This position is safety sensitive

You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces

If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
