Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking a skilled Millwright to maintain, repair and replace mechanical systems at our Edmonton-area site. You will perform field inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure reliable operations and address equipment issues promptly.

The role requires Red Seal Millwright certification, strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and the ability to read drawings. Union environment with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments focused on maintenance and reliability.
• Must hold Canadian Interprovincial or Red Seal Millwright certification.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from schematics and blueprints.
• Capable of diagnosing issues and performing technical work with appropriate tools.
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights and in confined spaces.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Maintain, repair, and replace mechanical systems and related equipment to ensure reliable site operations.
• Perform field inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment to ensure safe and efficient performance.
• Detect, troubleshoot, and respond to equipment irregularities, malfunctions, and operational issues.
• Anticipate potential problems and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Operate machining tools to fabricate and modify parts as required for maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies while following manufacturer maintenance procedures and guidelines.

What Are We Looking For

• Experience working in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments with a strong focus on equipment maintenance and reliability.
• Valid Canadian Interprovincial or Red Seal Millwright certification.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from mechanical schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and perform technical work using appropriate tools and systems.
• Physically capable of working in indoor and outdoor environments, lifting 50+ lbs., working at heights, and performing tasks that require kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and working in confined or awkward positions.

Conditions of Employment

• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination and background check.

Work Environment

• Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
