Job summary

Weldco Heavy Industries in Fort McKay is seeking a Mi-Jack Operator/Laborer to support production on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation with 12-hour shifts. Reporting to the Shop Foreman, you will move parts between the shop and yard, read blueprints, and operate gantry cranes and forklift.

You must be able to work outside in varying conditions, follow safety practices, and learn production flow. WHI offers a safety-focused culture, competitive pay, and opportunities for personal growth.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Overhead crane/rigging, forklift, fall protection and elevated work platform certifications preferred.
  • One year of manufacturing experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate gantry crane, overhead crane and forklift to move parts/products.
  • Move parts and finished products to and from the shop and yard.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure correct parts are sorted.
  • Maintain and organize areas, tag parts, store and locate parts.
  • Follow work order directions and supervisor instructions.
  • Perform other duties such as sandblasting and painting.

Mi-Jack (Mobile Crane) Operator/ Laborer

Weldco Heavy Industries (WHI) is a large steel fabrication and repair facility located in the Fort MacKay Caribou Energy Park. WHI is currently recruiting for a Mi-Jack Operator/ Laborer for the Fort MacKay location on a 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off rotation, 12-hour shifts. Reporting to the Shop Foreman your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

What you will do:
  • Operate gantry crane, overhead crane& forklift to facilitate movement of parts/products
  • Move parts and finished products to and from the shop and yard
  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure the correct parts are sorted appropriately
  • Maintain and organize areas, tag parts,storeand locate parts
  • Follow work order directions and instructions given by supervisor
  • Perform other duties as required, such as sandblasting and painting

The role is to move parts and products between facility locations to enable an efficient flow of job orders and ensure production schedules are met. You will be frequently operating the forklift and using other mobile equipment.

  • High school diploma
  • One year of experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Overhead Crane & Rigging, Forklift, Fall Protection and Elevated Work Platform certification and experience is preferred
  • Experience working in the elements
