Job summary

Ledcor is seeking an experienced Ironworker to support an Oil & Gas project in Fort McMurray, AB. You will join the Ledcor team on a major mining expansion, performing steel erection, rigging, and module installation on outdoor sites.

The role requires industrial construction experience and a Journeyperson ticket or registered apprenticeship. Camp accommodations and travel allowances are provided, with safety as a core priority.

Qualifications

  • Experience on a construction project in an industrial setting.
  • Journeyperson ticket or registered apprenticeship from a recognized provincial training authority.
  • Pre-access drug and alcohol testing completed as required.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation requirements.
  • Perform stick-built steel erection for structural steel buildings and panelization projects.
  • Position steel members, align holes, insert bolts, and complete bolt-up and impacting activities.
  • Execute heavy lifting, rigging, and setting of building modules and structural assemblies.
  • Assist with module installation, multi-crane lifts, and erection of stick-built components.
  • Ensure proper alignment, fitting, and connection of steel structures per specs and safety standards.
  • Operate rigging equipment and hoists safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain safety focus for crew, equipment and environment at all times.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, crane operators and crew to complete work within scheduled hours.
  • Inspect completed work for structural integrity and compliance with project requirements.

Description

We are seeking experienced Ironworker to support us on an Oil & Gas project. You will be an integral part of the Ledcor team working on the major oil sands mine expansion project for our client.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform stick-built steel erection for structural steel buildings and structural steel panelization projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work layout and installation requirements.
  • Position steel members, align holes, insert temporary bolts, and complete bolt-up and impacting activities to secure structural components.
  • Execute heavy lifting, rigging, and setting of building modules and structural assemblies.
  • Assist with module installation, multi-crane lifts, and erection of stick-built structural components.
  • Ensure proper alignment, fitting, and connection of steel structures according to project specifications and safety standards.
  • Operate rigging equipment, hoists, and other construction tools safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a strong focus on crew, equipment, and environmental safety at all times.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, crane operators, and crew members to ensure work is completed safely and within scheduled hours.
  • Inspect completed work to verify structural integrity, alignment, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while adhering to company and site safety procedures
Qualifications
  • Experience of working on a construction project in an industrial setting
  • Have a Journeyperson ticket or be registered in an apprenticeship from a recognized provincial training authority
  • Good to have CSO/BSO
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
Work Conditions
  • 14 days on / 7 days off rotational shift, 10 to 11 hour workdays with possibility of additional OT.
  • Camp based accommodation provided for non-local candidates
  • Travel allowance provided from approved locations
  • Work will be primarily outdoors in various weather conditions
