Job summary

Petroplan is seeking an HR Advisor to deliver business-facing HR operational support and improve HR processes. The role partners with the business, supports policy interpretation, and ensures data accuracy and security across HR systems.

Key duties include advising on complex HR matters, maintaining policy materials, and handling Tier 2 cases. A post-secondary degree in Business/Commerce/HR and Canada work authorization are required; CPHR is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive HR operations experience in a business-facing role.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Commerce, or HR.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • CPHR designation is an asset or working toward designation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as HR Advisory representative for assigned client groups.
  • Develop and maintain HR documentation including policies, templates, FAQs, and quick-reference guides.
  • Provide timely advice on HR programs to leaders and staff.
  • Manage Tier 2 HR cases in established case management systems.
  • Utilize HR systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, ServiceNow) for lifecycle data and data accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and internal security standards.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend practical improvements.
  • Participate as an HR Advisory representative on small HR projects.
  • Escalate complex issues when needed.

Job description

The HR Advisor plays a key role in delivering business‑facing HR operational support to assigned client groups while contributing to the continuous improvement of HR processes and services. This role requires strong judgment and the ability to interpret and apply HR policies, systems, and procedures to resolve complex issues and recommend effective solutions. The HR Advisor acts as a trusted partner to the business, collaborates across HR functions, and supports initiatives that enhance service delivery, efficiency, and employee experience.

What you’ll do:

Serve as the dedicated HR Advisory representative for assigned client groups, providing guidance on complex HR operational matters through the application of HR policies, procedures, and systems.

Support the development and maintenance of HR documentation, including policy and process materials, templates, FAQs, and quick-reference guides.

Provide accurate, timely advice on HR programs, policies, and procedures to leaders, employees, and internal HR partners.

Manage Tier 2 cases through established case management systems, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timely resolution.

Utilize HR systems effectively (e.g., Workday, SAP, ServiceNow) to manage employee lifecycle data, maintaining high standards of data accuracy, integrity, and security.

Ensure compliance with data privacy legislation, internal security standards, and best practices, proactively identifying and mitigating data risks.

Identify process gaps or recurring issues and recommend practical solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Participate as an HR Advisory representative on small-scale projects to support continuous improvement of HR operations and processes.

Work under general guidance, seeking clarification, feedback, and coaching as needed, and escalating complex issues appropriately.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

Legally authorized to work in Canada

Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR operations experience in a business‑facing role; oil and gas experience is considered an asset.

Post‑secondary degree in Business, Commerce, Human Resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CPHR designation or working toward designation is an asset.

Experience working within an HR shared services environment is preferred.

Comfortable using HR systems and tools, with experience in SAP, Workday, and ServiceNow preferred.
