Meter Installer – Residential

Job summary

Jobtailor in Brampton is seeking an experienced Water Meter Installer to install, repair, test and maintain residential meters and AMR devices. You will coordinate with builders, contractors, and customers to gain access to sites, document activities, and resolve meter-related issues.

The role requires a valid G license, MO L WMI 800 certification, and strong report writing skills. You will work independently, perform field tasks, and ensure safety compliance across sites.

Qualifications

• Completed high school diploma or equivalent education.
• Minimum of 2 years construction related experience including plumbing experience.
• Physically able to perform the requirements of the position.
• MOL Water Meter Installer (WMI 800) Certified.
• Experience completing forms and reports, ensuring accuracy of details.
• Valid Class G driver’s license in good standing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Independent worker with ability to produce results with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, test and maintain residential water meters and remote reading devices.
• Install and program Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) electronic equipment, interface units and electronic registers.
• Liaise with builders, sub-contractors and customers to access sites for meter installations and repairs.
• Report plumbing or access deficiencies and recommend corrective action.
• Complete accurate daily timesheets with meter installation and repair information.
• Investigate customer complaints regarding high or low bills and install equipment to profile consumption patterns.
• Locate and operate curb stops when customer stop and drain valves are inoperative.
• Investigate meter irregularities and assist customers in detecting and fixing internal plumbing leaks.
• Obtain meter reads, replace meters, and report on existing meter condition.
• Verify final registered subdivision plans against actual construction.
• Inspect meter equipment, report findings, and take immediate action to repair problems.
• Identify and enter confined spaces to install, repair or replace water meters.
• Account for assigned tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Report health and safety hazards and follow WHMIS, MTO regulations, OHSA, and Regional policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
