Job summary

ABC Recycling Ltd. in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a General Labourer to process, move, sort, cut, and package scrap metal and vehicles for transport from our yard. You will help keep the yard clean and safe, and support inventory controls as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience sorting and allocating ferrous metals in a busy yard.
• Thorough knowledge of ferrous types and grades.
• Ability to use a forklift or skid steer is an asset.
• Knowledgeable about general safety practices.
• Willingness to work in outdoor environments (rain or shine).
• Able to communicate professionally.

Responsibilities

• Receives metals from customers and assists unloading.
• Assesses ferrous metals and grades.
• Sorts and allocates metals for marketable loads.
• Maintains property, facilities, and equipment in good order.
• Communicates with customers to ensure professional service.
• Cuts larger pieces into smaller marketable sizes.
• Loads and unloads trailers using a forklift.
• Drains fluids from vehicles and prepares for baling.
• Dismantles scrap materials and removes high-value metals.
• Maintains inventory controls by recording stock locations and movements.
• Assists in counting physical inventory.
• Other duties as assigned.
