Job summary

BP Machine Ltd. in Edmonton, AB is seeking a full-time, permanent metal finishing associate. The role pays CAD 18.00–25.00 hourly with a 40-hour work week and must be performed at the shop location; there is no remote option.

You will clean, polish, and handle metal parts, read work orders, and support welders and fabricators in a dusty, hot shop environment. Requirements include WHMIS certification and experience with metal cleaning or deburring.

Qualifications

• WHMIS certificate required or obtainable prior to start.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove welds, rust and scale from surfaces.
• Transport items and materials throughout the plant using powered equipment.
• Manually move raw materials, finished products and equipment as needed.
• Immerse metal products in cleaning solutions and polish to finish.
• Assist fitters and other metal workers as required, reading work orders.

Responsibilities

Tasks

• Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other materials from surfaces of metal products
• Transport items throughout plant using powered equipment
• Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout plant manually
• Immerse metal products in cleaning solutions
• Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, metal machine operators or other metal workers
• Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials
• Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand toolsClean machines and immediate work areas
• Load and unload vehicle
• Polish metal products to mirror finish
• Read and interpret work orders
