Job Overview:

Clinical laboratory personnel, as members of the health care delivery team, are responsible for assuring reliable and accurate laboratory test results, which contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of physiological and pathological conditions in humans.

Quality clinical laboratory testing is evidenced by performing the correct test, on the right person, at the right time, producing accurate test results, with the best outcome, in the most cost-effective manner.

Qualifications:

Required:

• BA/BS Degree in Medical Technology and/or related science
• 2 to 3 years clinical laboratory experience

Preferred:

• National Certification

Scheduling Requirements:

• Per Diem
• Dayshift/Hematology
• Alternating weekends and rotating holidays

Essential Functions:

• Performs all testing as per standard operating procedures
• Performs bench work for CBC/Diff, COAG, UA, and Cell Counts
• Maintains desired turn-around times
• Serves as a resource for technical questions and problem resolution
• Troubleshoots problem specimens and interacts with medical staff and hospital staff as necessary
• Assists in training and orienting new lab employees, hospital employees, and students
• Performs quality control and documents it as scheduled, resolving all QC failures promptly
• Performs proficiency testing accurately and on time
• Ensures integrity and proper use of all IT systems
• Utilizes information systems for accurate data entry, result verification, and monitoring testing times
• Ensures all instruments are properly calibrated and maintained
• Implements immediate corrective actions when performance issues arise
• Troubleshoots testing issues and communicates problems to supervisors
• Provides oversight during the absence of the supervisor
• Demonstrates leadership skills and promotes excellence within the section
