TELUS Health Calgary seeks a Medical Office Assistant to be the first point of contact and central hub for clients seeking health and wellness support. You will coordinate appointments, support clinical staff, and maintain accurate medical records in a fast-paced, confidential environment.

Qualifications

  • Secondary Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare protocols.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems — ability to navigate platforms confidently, enter information accurately, and maintain data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule client appointments, manage bookings and coordinate specialist consultations to maintain clinic flow.
  • Greet clients, provide reception support, and prepare them for tests or examinations while addressing questions.
  • Update and maintain medical records, manage EMR systems, and provide general administrative support.

Status and Schedule:

Temporary 1 year replacement / Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

As a Medical Office Assistant in our Calgary TELUS Health Care Center, you'll serve as the first point of contact and central hub for clients seeking health and wellness support. You'll work alongside a collaborative team of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, coordinating care and ensuring clients feel welcomed, supported, and informed at every step of their health journey. What You'll Do

In a typical week, you'll balance multiple priorities across appointment management, client-facing support, and administrative operations:

Appointment Management & Coordination
  • Schedule client appointments and arrange specialist consultations, ensuring optimal clinic flow
  • Navigate incoming phone calls and manage appointment requests with accuracy and warmth
  • Coordinate follow-up consultations and communicate appointment details clearly to clients
  • Proactively contact clients to remind them of required tests, examinations, and follow-up care
Reception & Client Support
  • Greet clients warmly as they arrive; ensure the front desk is welcoming and professional
  • Prepare clients for tests and examinations; answer questions and ease any concerns they may have
  • Connect with clients in a genuine way, supporting continuity of care and their sense of being known
  • Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor with clients, colleagues, and visitors at all times, while safeguarding client confidentiality with integrity and care.
Medical Records & Administrative Operations
  • Update and maintain medical records with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Manage Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and ensure data integrity
  • Provide general office administrative support — filing, document management, supply ordering

Healthcare & Medical Knowledge
  • Secondary Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience (clinical, administrative, or direct patient care)
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare protocols
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems — ability to navigate platforms confidently, enter information accurately, and maintain data integrity
