Interior Health is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Medical Laboratory Department at Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie, BC. If this field is your passion, you are reliable, flexible, and motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, apply today.

Shifts are Monday to Friday day shift from 07:30 to 15:30. This is a Relief Full Time position until August 2, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.

Responsibilities

• Taking blood and specimen samples from patients.
• Preparing blood and other specimens for analysis.
• Performing routine laboratory tests.
• Distributing specimens to departments and outside laboratories.
• Operating related equipment and entering data into LIS.
• Performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.

About The Job

Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine laboratory tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.

This is a Relief Full Time (1.0) opportunity until August 2, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled Monday to Friday day shift from 07:30 to 15:30.
