Position Summary

Join the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) at UHN, one of the largest academic medical imaging departments in Canada, performing over 750,000 exams annually. We set the standard for clinical excellence with cutting-edge digital technology and a dedicated team of over 700 staff and 90 radiologists. Our focus is on patient care, innovation, research, and education. The JDMI is committed to ongoing quality assurance and is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and the Michener Institute of Education.

The JDMI Research Division specializes in MRI and PET. As a valued team member, you will support both MRI and PET functions.

Duties

  • Performs nuclear medicine procedures and quality assurance for PET to aid in diagnosis, intervention, or treatment, following protocols/manuals.
  • Ensures MRI Safety Standards are adhered to at all times.
  • Operates, troubleshoots, and maintains medical imaging equipment.
  • Prepares reports documenting procedures and results.
  • Attends PET-MR & Research meetings as required.
  • Acts as Radiation Safety Designate, responding to radiation incidents and spills.
  • Participates in quarterly RNRSC meetings.
  • Assists in manuscript preparation, grant applications, and data processing.
  • Provides training, education, and safety programs.
  • Uses PACS to review, manipulate, and archive digital images.
  • Performs patient care activities to ensure optimal care.
  • Follows hospital and research policies to improve technical quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine from a recognized institution.
  • Current registration with CMRITO, including ongoing education.
  • Completion of BCLS Level II certification.
  • Completion of an accredited medical imaging program or equivalent.
  • At least three years of recent clinical Nuclear Medicine experience.
  • Competence in operating PET equipment is an asset.
  • Ability to order radiopharmaceuticals for PET-MR studies.
  • Experience in radiopharmaceutical administration, radiation dosage calculation, and disposal per CNSC requirements.
  • Proficiency in image reconstruction and data management.
  • Venipuncture or catheterization skills.
  • Monitoring radiation areas and equipment checks.
  • Strong documentation, problem-solving, time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
