Job summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a Medical Clerk Interpreter in Iqaluit to support inpatient services. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, you will provide interpreting services in Inuktitut and English (written and oral) and perform general clerical and administrative duties in clinical areas.

The role operates on a 12-hour rotating schedule (4 days on/4 days off, day and night shifts) with weekends and weekdays, and includes a northern allowance; housing is not provided.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager Inpatient Services, the Medical Clerk Interpreter is responsible for providing general assistance in clinical and patient areas and performs clerical and administrative duties as required. The incumbent is responsible for providing interpreting services in Inuktitut and English (both written and oral) between patients, nurses, doctors, laboratory, radiology and pharmacy staff, and other visitors to the hospital (example family). Positions in the inpatient unit are scheduled in 12 hours shift rotating schedule: 4 days on /4 days off and alternate between days and nights; weekdays and weekends.
