The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba is seeking up to two contracted medical consultants to dedicate 16–20 hours per week in person at our Winnipeg office, with consideration for a Brandon office visit. Applicants must be a licensed physician in good standing with the Manitoba College of Physicians and Surgeons and demonstrate strong communication skills.

Fellowship in sports medicine or occupational medicine training is advantageous.

Qualificações

• 5+ years as a physician.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to communicate about medical matters with treating healthcare practitioners.
• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
• Proficient in electronic communication tools and general computer use.
• Fellowship or experience in sports medicine (asset).
• Completion of the foundations course in occupational medicine or other occupational medicine training (asset).

Responsabilidades

• Consult on medical matters and provide written medical opinions to assist adjudicator and case management decision making on claims for workplace injuries and illnesses.
• Communicate with treating healthcare practitioners about relevant medical matters for workplace injury and illness claims, including when there are conflicting opinions.
• Perform physical examinations of injured workers to assist in the formulation of medical opinions.
• As needed, participate in the delivery and development of medical education and training for internal claims staff or external healthcare community, and other special projects related to program development.

Job summary

What will youdo?

We are looking for someone:

• With 5 + years as aphysician
• With excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to communicate about medical matters with treating healthcare practitioners in the community
• Who is licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
• Who is proficient in electronic communication tools and general computer use

Fellowship or experience in sports medicine or other related specialty is considered an asset. Completion of the foundations course in occupational medicine or other occupational medicine training considered anasset.

Medical Advisors are required to spend the majority of their consult time in person in our Winnipeg office. Consideration will be given to physicians outside of Winnipeg able to provide consult time in person in our Brandon office.
