The Media Buyer provides counsel to the Media Planners and client teams regarding marketplace rates and conditions, drives the buying and negotiating process for assigned clients, and ensures a high quality of execution. This is a 360 media investment role which involves developing, executing, and reconciling both digital and broadcast go-to-market recommendations.
This role within the Trading Team works closely with media vendors to bring our media plans to life. Working in conjunction with our Media Planners, this function is responsible for negotiating and purchasing media real estate—an integral part of capturing our client’s vision to reach an intended audience—and delivering the best outcomes for the company and our clients.
Key Accountabilities:
Client and Internal Partnership
- Be a point of contact for clients, lead client status calls, and present insights, post-campaign wraps, optimizations, and other findings to clients.
- Liaise with the planning team to deliver the digital portion of the overall strategy, providing digital market research, insights, and POVs.
Delivering Management
- Provide and oversee go-to-market insights, select vendors/sites, and provide rationales for these choices, acting as a connection point for vendors/partners.
- Partner with the Manager in developing communications with the planning team, including buy authorizations, tracking reports, buy changes, and creative specifications.
- Coordinate all reporting with planning and analytics teams.
- Gather and present information and intelligence from Mindshare and GroupM Trading leadership to the planning team and clients when appropriate.
- Ensure accurate and timely vendor invoice approval and budget reconciliation.
Job Requirements:
- College diploma or Bachelor's Degree, preferably in advertising, marketing, business administration, or communications, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with media tools (e.g., Prisma, Mediaocean) and third-party syndicated research resources (e.g., ComScore, Numeris).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and operate under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams.

- Comfortable with ambiguity, flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn and assist wherever needed.
- 1-2 years of relevant media experience; digital strategy/buying or planning preferred.
