SA Service Agricole de l’Estrie in Coaticook seeks a mechanical workshop supervisor to join our team. You will plan, coordinate, and supervise shop activities to ensure efficiency, quality, and profitability, reporting to the service manager. The ideal candidate has a DEP in a relevant field, 3–5 years in mechanics, and strong leadership and planning skills.

Job description

SA Service Agricole de l’Estrie, located in Coaticook, is looking for a mechanical workshop supervisor to join her dynamic and passionate team!

Reporting to the service manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the activities of the mechanical shop. You will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, the quality of work, and the supervision of mechanics, while contributing to the department’s performance and profitability.

Your main tasks will be to :

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise the work in the mechanical shop.
• Manage work orders and the production schedule in collaboration with the technical advisor and the service manager.
• Assign tasks to mechanics based on their skills and monitor their progress.
• Prepare estimates and ensure compliance with established rates.
• Review and approve work orders before they are billed.
• Work with the sales department to coordinate the preparation of new and used equipment.
• Set priorities for equipment to be returned to the workshop and ensure prompt follow-up.
• Maintain effective communication with technical advisors regarding the progress of the work.
• Plan mechanics' schedules and participate in their annual appraisals.
• Organize internal training sessions and promote the sharing of knowledge gained during manufacturers' training sessions.
• Ensure that the tools and resources necessary for the smooth operation of the workshop are available.
• Ensure the organization, efficiency, and quality of the department's operations.

You ideally have :

• A Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in a relevant field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position or in the field of mechanics.
• Knowledge of agricultural machinery (a plus).
• Natural leadership and the ability to motivate a team.
• Excellent supervisory, planning, and organizational skills.
• A strong commitment to customer service and excellent communication skills.
• An ability to manage priorities and resolve problems quickly.
• Independence, attention to detail, and a strong team spirit.
