Rotation/Shifts

Days, 8-hour shifts.

Note: The hospital reserves the right to change shift details as needed.

Basic Requirements
  1. Three (3) year Community College Diploma in Machine Shop or equivalent (e.g., mechanical technology, machinist, tool & die maker, CNC/CAM technician/technologist);
  2. Five (5) years relevant experience;
  3. General Machinist designation;
  4. CPR Level C;
  5. Ability to plan and design mechanical device construction;
  6. Proficiency in constructing, modifying, and repairing mechanical devices from various plastics and metals with high precision, using resources such as manual and CNC milling machines, metal lathes, welding equipment, and measuring devices;
  7. Expertise in properties and applications of metals (aluminum, brass, stainless steel) and plastics (Delrin, nylon, Teflon, Lexan, Plexiglas);
  8. Knowledge of specialized assembly techniques (adhesives, soldering, welding, fasteners);
  9. Experience in aluminum sheet metal fabrication;
  10. Ability to apply proper cutting tool geometry and design/build special tools, dies, molds, test jigs, and fixtures as needed;
  11. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with team members and clients/patients;
  12. Knowledge of and adherence to safe shop practices (e.g., WHMIS, Health and Safety Regulations);
  13. Ability to interpret verbal instructions, sketches, and engineering drawings from simple to complex;
  14. Ability to maintain machine tools used.
