Purpose

The Architectural Technologist is responsible for assisting in the production of working and contract drawings for the construction of new homes.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Coordinate with Architectural consultant to produce working drawings to meet project schedule and timelines.
• Prepare foundation and block plans for the Sales team.
• Prepare lot-specific grading plans for permits and construction.
• Coordinate truss, floor, mechanical, and structural engineering drawings.
• Liaise with Construction team and Trade Partners for questions on drawings and resolve on-site construction issues as they arise.
• Conduct periodic site reviews for conformity to plans, applicable codes, and Minto standards, in coordination with Construction and Warranty teams.
• Produce and maintain specifications and working drawings in AutoCAD / Revit.
• Assist in the detailed design process and coordinate with Product Development.
• Stay up to date on building techniques, building codes, and regulations to ensure compliance and enhance building performance.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address recurring issues, focusing on continuous improvement and reduction of on-site rework.
• Coordinate with Land Development during engineering design to test model restrictions, review master grading plans, and optimize land use.
• Review and test model restrictions prior to releasing lots and blocks for sale.
• Prepare lot-specific working drawings that incorporate Design Centre selections for construction as needed.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the job as requested by management.

Technical Competencies

• BCIN required.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario (OBC) and National (NBC) Building Codes.
• Experience with residential low-rise and medium density wood frame construction.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Small Buildings certification is an asset.

Education

• College Diploma in Architectural Technology or relevant experience.

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of architectural experience.
