Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

A Trans Mountain Mechanical Maintenance (Millwright) Technicianwill be expected to provide Operational Support in a multi-skilled work environment that promotes public safety, environmental stewardship, and pipeline integrity. In this role, the Mechanical Technician would be responsible for ensuring maximum up-time availability of the pipeline pumping equipment and components and the day-to-day safe remote operations of the pipeline. A Trans Mountain MechanicalTechnician will also provide Operational & Emergency Response support to ensure public safety, environmental stewardship, and integrity compliance.

The Mechanical Maintenance (Millwright) Technician will follow a shift-schedule of 8.58 Hours per shift with every second Friday off, on a straight day rotation. This position will be based at the Edmonton Terminal and will report to the Manager, Edmonton Terminal.

Job Duties associated with this position include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain facility rotating equipment, motors, pumps, valves, mechanical seals, samplers, mixers, thermal relief valves, full flow relief valves, flow meters, and all related mechanical equipment.
  • Perform and document Mechanical Maintenance as defined by asset maintenance tracking software, ensuring system reliability and integrity.
  • Analyze, interpret, and utilize the information contained in SCADA, HMI displays and P&ID drawings to ensure the safe operation of facilities.
  • Support Emergency Response initiatives and be required to take training in these areas.
  • Provide Operational support to ensure throughput and system reliability.
  • Assisting other technical groups as needed, including, but not limited to, maintenance and operations.
  • Participate in Emergency response exercises and scenarios.
  • Provide contractor oversight and monitoring.

Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • High School completion.
  • Journeyman Certificate (Red Seal Millwright and or TQ endorsement) is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in an industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot rotating equipment.
  • Welding and pipefitting experience would be an asset.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems would be an asset.
  • Process Control and Hydro Test familiarity would be an asset.
  • Commissioning and Start-Up experience would be an asset.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Availability to be on call as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft D365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Support Overtime as required.
