Tolko Industries in High Prairie, AB seeks a Mechanical Team Leader to guide maintenance teams, ensure safe, reliable operations, and drive continuous improvement in an OSB mill environment.

The role requires Millwright qualification, 5+ years maintenance experience with leadership, and strong skills in troubleshooting, planning, and team development. On-site, with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Millwright Certificate of Qualification (Provincial or Interprovincial).
• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, incl. 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, and maintenance best practices.
• Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization abilities.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
• Experience leading maintenance teams of 5+ employees in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of OSB processes a plus.
• Experience in 24/7 manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and direct mechanical maintenance resources for safe, reliable operations.
• Lead, coach, train, and develop maintenance staff while promoting safety.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Coordinate procurement of parts, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement to improve reliability.
• Plan preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with operations to optimize performance and productivity.
• Participate in rotational on-call schedule (roughly every two months).

Mechanical Team Leader High Prairie, Alberta

Our Mechanical Team Leaders are critical to the success of our company. They keep our maintenance teams engaged, organized and efficient and support our operations teams in keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently. If you're a natural leader with a passion for maintenance excellence and continuous improvement, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Team Leader at High Prairie Oriented Strand Board (OSB) Division, located in High Prairie, Alberta. Our mill has undergone an exciting major rebuild and modernization including the commissioning of a new continuous press which makes us the most modern mill in North America.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

• A Millwright Certificate of Qualification (C of Q), either Provincial or Interprovincial (Red Seal).
• A minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role following certification.
• Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, fluid power systems, and maintenance best practices.
• Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization abilities.
• Strong leadership, team-building, coaching, and communication skills.
• Experience leading maintenance teams of 5 or more employees, including apprentices, in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of OSB manufacturing processes and continuous process operations considered an asset.
• Experience maintaining large industrial equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of CMMS systems, including JD Edwards.
• Graduate of, or currently enrolled in, the Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) Program.
• Formal leadership training programs are considered an asset.
• Six Sigma certification is considered an asset.

In this role you will:

• Schedule, coordinate, and direct mechanical maintenance resources to support safe and reliable operations.
• Lead, coach, train, and develop maintenance employees while promoting a strong safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Coordinate the procurement and availability of parts, materials, special tools, and equipment required for maintenance activities.
• Apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement practices to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
• Collaborate with operations and other departments to optimize equipment performance, resource utilization, and production results.
• Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, approximately one weekend every two months.
