Job summary

Tolko is seeking a Mechanical Team Leader at High Prairie, Alberta, to lead maintenance operations in our OSB mill. You will direct maintenance resources, coach teams, and drive reliability initiatives to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate has a Millwright Red Seal and 5+ years in industrial maintenance with supervisory experience. This role offers competitive pay, relocation support, a northern allowance, benefits, and ongoing development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Millwright Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal) required or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory/leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, and maintenance best practices.
• Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities.
• Strong leadership, team-building, coaching and communication skills.
• Experience leading maintenance teams of 5+ employees in an industrial environment.
• Knowledge of OSB manufacturing processes is an asset.
• Experience with large industrial equipment in a 24/7 setting.
• Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems, JD Edwards.
• Graduate of or enrolled in MMP program; formal leadership training is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and direct mechanical maintenance resources to support safe and reliable operations.
• Lead, coach, train, and develop maintenance employees while promoting safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Coordinate procurement and availability of parts, materials, tools, and equipment for maintenance.
• Apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with operations and other departments to optimize equipment performance.
• Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, approximately one weekend every two months.

Our Mechanical Team Leaders are critical to the success of our company. They keep our maintenance teams engaged, organized and efficient and support our operations teams in keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Team Leader at High Prairie Oriented Strand Board (OSB) Division, located in High Prairie, Alberta. Our mill has undergone an exciting major rebuild and modernization including the commissioning of a new continuous press which makes us the most modern mill in North America.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

• A Millwright Certificate of Qualification (C of Q), either Provincial or Interprovincial (Red Seal).
• A minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role following certification.
• Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, fluid power systems, and maintenance best practices.
• Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization abilities.
• Strong leadership, team-building, coaching, and communication skills.
• Experience leading maintenance teams of 5 or more employees, including apprentices, in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of OSB manufacturing processes and continuous process operations considered an asset.
• Experience maintaining large industrial equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of CMMS systems, including JD Edwards.
• Graduate of, or currently enrolled in, the Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) Program.
• Formal leadership training programs are considered an asset.
• Six Sigma certification is considered an asset.
