Job summary

Qualifications

Northland Properties' Construction & Design Team is seeking a Mechanical Systems Designer/Technologist to support our expanding Hotel, Restaurant, and Resorts brands. As the Mechanical Designer/Technologist, you'll be an integral part of our Design Team and be responsible for preparing and coordinating mechanical plumbing & HVAC system designs for various new and renovation projects for our Hotels, Restaurants, and Resorts.

Your Duties Will Include:
  • Prepare mechanical designs, construction drawings, and specifications for all project phases.
  • Develop mechanical drawing packages for development and building permit submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with current mechanical system building bylaws.
  • Perform and review heating, cooling, and ventilation load calculations.
  • Create mechanical equipment schedules.
  • Review and provide input to submitted shop drawings, RFIs, and other construction-related change requests.
  • Coordinate service requirements/connections with utility and municipal agencies.
  • Communicate and coordinate with project teams, including design and technical consultants.
  • Work with external engineers and technicians to review redline drawings and coordinate with external consultants.
  • Coordinate mechanical requirements and design tasks with other departments.
What are we looking for?
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in plumbing and HVAC building system design as a Mechanical Technologist.
  • Experience with mid-sized multi-family residential, hotel, and restaurant construction projects is an asset.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing and HVAC layouts.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit knowledge is an asset.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and the Plumbing Code.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams to develop drawing packages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
