ZE Power Engineering is an innovative industry leading company that provides engineering services to the electric utility industry. We are currently seeking an individual as a Distribution Designer to contribute to our projects. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of electrical utility systems while working in a great team environment at a fast-growing company.

Responsibilities

1. Design new and replacement infrastructure for electrical utility overhead and underground systems at Distribution voltages.
2. Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, calculations, illustrations and independent checks.
3. Use computer-aided design methods to solve problems and prepare drawings.
4. Prepare design markups to the drafting group in order to assist in the development of an engineered drafted drawing.
5. Consult as required with the Professional of Record and action changes as directed.
6. Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, project managers and managers.
7. Interact with clients, consultants and contractors on a continual basis.
8. Conduct site visits in order to verify existing site conditions, meet stakeholders or oversee construction.
9. Support documentation process for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations.
10. Willing to assist in a variety of project support activities including project coordination, estimating, strategic planning, client support, and business analysis supporting the business development and project management departments.

Requirements

1. Required:

3. Strong technical acumen and problem solving skills.
4. Strong work ethic with ability to remain focused and self driven in a remote work environment.
5. Class 5 drivers license.
6. Preferred:
7. Post Secondary diploma or degree from a recognized electrical technology or engineering institution.
8. Experience designing overhead or underground power distribution assets in a power utility environment an asset.
9. Experience working with BC Hydro design systems a strong asset.
10. Experience using pole line analysis design software tools such as Spida-calc a strong asset.
