Northland Properties' Construction & Design Team is seeking a Mechanical Systems Designer/Technologist to support our expanding Hotel, Restaurant and Resorts brands.

As the Mechanical Designer/Technologist, you'll be an integral part of our Design Team and be responsible for preparing and coordinating mechanical plumbing & HVAC system designs for various new and renovation projects for our Hotels, Restaurants and Resorts.

Your duties will include the following:

  1. Prepare mechanical designs, construction drawings, and specifications for all project phases.
  2. Develop mechanical drawing packages for development and building permit submissions.
  3. Ensure compliance with current mechanical system building bylaws.
  4. Perform and review heating, cooling, and ventilation load calculations.
  5. Review and provide input to submitted shop drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other construction related change requests.
  6. Coordinate service requirements/connections with the respective utility and/or municipal agencies.
  7. Communicate and coordinate with multi-faceted project teams, including design and technical consultants.
  8. Work with external engineers and mechanical technicians to review prepared redline drawings and coordinate with external consultants.
  9. Coordinate mechanical requirements and design-related tasks with other project team members and departments.

What are we looking for?

  1. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in plumbing and HVAC building system design as a Mechanical Technologist.
  2. Additional experience with mid-sized Multi-family residential, Hotel and Restaurant construction projects is an asset.
  3. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent).
  4. Great understanding of plumbing and HVAC layouts.
  5. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD software. A working knowledge of Revit software would be an asset.
  6. Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and the Plumbing Code.
  7. The ability to work individually and collaboratively in a team environment in the development of drawing packages.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  9. A "can do" attitude with good initiative, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
