Job summary

TYLin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Sector team in Toronto, with extensive HVAC design experience. The role focuses on designing mechanical building systems for infrastructure projects and coordinating with multiple disciplines to deliver constructible solutions.

You will lead junior designers, review shop drawings, and ensure compliance with codes and sustainability practices while collaborating with utility agencies and clients to deliver high-quality projects.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems with a focus on industrial/wastewater facilities.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO is required.
  • University degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and review heating, cooling, and ventilation load calculations (HAP, TAS, Excel).
  • Prepare Mechanical and Plumbing schematic design layout and final design.
  • Create and maintain mechanical equipment schedules and motor lists.
  • Review and prepare mechanical specifications.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience related to the design of HVAC and related mechanical building systems to join our growing Water Sector team.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Accountabilities
  • Perform and review heating, cooling, and ventilation load calculations(HAP, TAS, Excel, etc.).
  • Prepare Mechanical and Plumbing schematic design layout and final design.
  • Create and maintain mechanical equipment schedule and motorlist.
  • Review and prepare mechanical specifications.
  • Prepare or confirm all mechanical equipment selections using the firm’s selection procedures.
  • Review shop drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other construction changes.
  • Coordinate mechanical requirements with other disciplines involved in the project design team.
  • Direct and supervise Junior and Intermediate Designers within your team to ensure the delivery of quality projects.
  • Coordinate or confirm service requirements/connections with the respective utility and/or municipal agencies.
  • Assist with fee proposal preparation.
  • Maintain good client relations.
Knowledge
  • Able to read Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Able to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building, and sprinkler codes.
  • Experience with schematic design, equipment selection, and 2D AutoCAD and 3D Revit.
  • Basic understanding of global sustainability issues and current best practices in sustainable building design.
  • Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, such as Passive House, Zero Carbon Building, LEED.
  • Experience performing accurate and detailed site surveys.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond systematically to critical situations.
Qualifications and Experience

8+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems with a specific focus on industrial/wastewater treatment facilities. University degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO is required. Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions. Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $110,000-$125,000 for this position and local market.
