Job summary

Sedgman Canada Limited in Vancouver, BC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5–7 years of mining/heavy industrial project experience. You will lead mechanical and piping design, equipment selection, and on-site support, contributing to feasibility studies and cost estimates.

The role requires a P.Eng or eligibility to register in BC, AutoCAD/Plant3D skills, and strong English communication. Join a team delivering full project life cycle engineering and design improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (piping design experience preferred).
• 5–7 years of relevant experience on mining/heavy industrial projects.
• EGBC P.Eng or eligible to register in British Columbia.
• Experience in process piping design; knowledge of ASME code and pipe stress is a plus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant3D.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical and piping design across multiple sustaining capital projects.
• Develop designs for mechanical equipment, process platework and pipework.
• Oversee layout drafting and 3D modelling through basic and detailed design phases.
• Contribute to proposals, scope development, and continuous design improvements.
• Design of piping systems, process and mechanical equipment including design and selection of static and rotating equipment.
• Define and recommend design methods, specifications and performance of functional requirements for new projects.
• Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, requisitions and perform technical bid evaluations of process and mechanical equipment
• Provide engineering support to the project teams in line with management direction whilst maximising individual and teams utilisation.
