Job summary

Manitoba Hydro in Winnipeg, MB seeks a permanent Mechanical Engineer to join the Generation Design Department. You will assume responsibility for design, assessment, and upgrades of generation assets such as turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems.

You will lead project teams, perform technical reviews, provide guidance to staff and liaise with other departments to ensure compliance with standards and regulations. Strong drafting and CAD skills required.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Mechanical Engineering with at least six years of related experience, including two years in design.
• Professional engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba or eligible to attain.
• Experience with stress, FEA, fatigue, joint design (fasteners/welds).
• Familiarity with machinery design and codes relevant to generating stations.

Responsibilities

• Design, assess, repair, upgrade and manage generation assets (turbines, generators, cranes, auxiliary systems).
• Lead small to medium projects and develop scopes, studies and design packages.
• Review welding procedures and provide guidance to contractors and suppliers.
• Lead drawing development and ensure GD&T accuracy and CAD standards.
• Monitor scope, schedule and budget for assigned tasks.
