Job summary

Manitoba Hydro is seeking an HVDC Design Engineer to join the HVDC Station Design Department in Winnipeg. You will provide technical expertise on HVDC systems, controls, protection, and auxiliary equipment, guiding engineers and technicians on design standards.

The role requires a BSc in Electrical/Computer Engineering and extensive experience directing teams. Travel to project sites may be required; Manitoba Hydro offers a nine-day work cycle, competitive salary, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• BSc in Electrical/Computer Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum seven years of related experience including directing engineers and technicians.
• Advanced knowledge of HVDC technology and controls including modern digital and legacy analog systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, specification, tender analysis, testing, and commissioning of HVDC systems and controls.
• Develop Conceptual Design Reports for HVDC systems and associated equipment.
• Prepare engineering packages for installation or modification of HVDC controls and protection.
