Job summary

Manitoba Hydro in Winnipeg seeks a Civil Engineer to support Maintenance Engineering Operations. You will apply civil and structural expertise to asset assessments, rehabilitation, and capital planning for HVDC stations, switchyards, and generation facilities.

Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is essential to drive innovative engineering solutions and asset investments. This role emphasizes infrastructure integrity, lifecycle asset management, and safety within a large-scale utility

Qualifications

• Graduate in Civil Engineering from a recognized university with at least six years of civil/structural design experience.
• Professional membership with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba or ability to attain in time.
• Experience in steel, reinforced concrete, and anchor bolt design and associated drawings.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of capital and maintenance projects; prepare scopes and tender specs.
• Coordinate cost estimates and budget data for civil maintenance and capital work.
• Coordinate civil design modifications with design departments for facilities.
• Administer contracts for repairs and supervise site inspections and construction.
• Provide technical guidance to staff and direct external consultants as needed.
• Assist lifecycle asset management for civil assets and safety programs.
• Prepare investigative reports and detailed inspection schedules for buildings and facilities.
• Willingness to travel regularly to HVDC stations and generating facilities.
