Job summary

Suncor Base Plant in Fort McMurray, AB, is seeking an intermediate to experienced Mechanical Engineer to restore equipment, troubleshoot field failures, and deliver timely work scopes while supporting safe, reliable operations through integrity assessments and practical recommendations.

You will collaborate with maintenance and operations teams, participate in safety reviews, manage changes, and contribute to major projects as needed.

Qualifications

• 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Must be a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.
• Field experience supporting Maintenance and Operations in an industrial environment.
• Technical strength and strong collaboration with client groups.
• Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line support by troubleshooting equipment issues and preparing cost-effective repair scopes for onsite and offsite maintenance within the Production Unit.
• Use risk reviews, HAZOPs, management of change processes, and other safety checks to improve equipment safety and reliability performance.
• Support major events and turnarounds with technical oversight, plan reviews, repair scopes, scope deviation guidance, and prompt responses to information requests.
• Investigate failures, perform root-cause analysis, and lead minor plant and equipment modifications.
• Develop technical evaluations for major equipment changes and projects using management of change and risk assessment.
• Complete fitness-for-service assessments and recommend repair, replacement, or return to service.

Minimum Requirements:

• Your shift will be Monday to Friday
